Bringing new opportunities, investment, and clean energy to Bee County

Ørsted’s Helena Energy Center is a long-term asset for Bee County that will help meet the energy needs of the Texas during peak demand periods by providing reliable and flexible wind and solar-powered electricity.

Spanning over 18,000 acres, Helena Energy Center is a co-located project comprising our Helena Wind and Sparta Solar farms, spanning over 18,000 acres in Bee County, Texas. This project will power the equivalent of more than 110,000 homes annually and inject over $114 million into the local tax base, supporting schools and emergency services.

Helena Wind

Helena Wind began commercial operations in June 2022 and is comprised of 66 Vestas turbines.

Sparta solar

Sparta Solar began commercial operations in June 2024 and is comprised of over 600,000 solar panels.

Bringing new investment to Bee County

The Helena Energy Center will create long-term value for landowners hosting the project while stimulating the local economy. The project will generate new tax revenue over the project life without adding new costs for services and provides economic benefits to Bee County, supporting schools and emergency services.

Our Approach

With extensive experience in a variety of regions, including 11 wind, solar, and battery storage projects in Texas alone, landowners can be confident our projects will be designed carefully to ensure the protection of roads, minimize impacts on neighbors, and preserve the integrity of the soil and land.
